Dental implants are the best way to restore one or more missing teeth with a tooth that looks and feels completely natural.
Restoring your missing tooth with a dental implant prevents common issues like teeth shifting, uneven wear, and jaw bone resorption associated with tooth loss.
Dental implants can last 30+ years with proper care, making them the best long-term option for restoring your smile.
As an experienced implant dentist, Dr. Jeremy Brown delivers fantastic results, and will keep you informed throughout every step of the process.

Single tooth implants are the most common type of dental implant. They consist of two basic parts: the implant itself and a prosthetic tooth. The implant is a small, screw-shaped piece of titanium, which is surgically implanted into the gums and jaw to function as an artificial tooth root. The false tooth, or dental crown, is bonded into place permanently once the dental implant has healed, restoring the natural appearance and function of your smile after tooth loss.
Before you can get a dental implant, you’ll need to come in for a consultation with Dr. Brown to determine if you’re a good candidate. If he confirms that an implant is right for you, he will use x-rays and digital imaging to begin creating your implant placement plan. Next, you’ll schedule your placement appointment. During this appointment, your mouth will be cleaned and numbed, and you can also be sedated. The dental implant will be surgically placed in your jaw, where your missing tooth used to be. After placement, the area will be cleaned, disinfected, and sutured shut. You’ll be sent home to heal and recover from the procedure, and to prepare for the restoration process.
Recovering from dental implant surgery only takes a week or two. However, the process of “osseointegration” which bonds the implant to your jaw bone and gum tissue permanently, takes 3-6 months. During this time, Dr. Brown will work with an outside dental lab to create your dental restoration and develop a dental crown that matches your existing teeth perfectly. Once your mouth has healed, you will come in for another appointment. During this appointment, Dr. Brown will check the fit of the implant, and may make minor adjustments, if necessary. Then, your crown will be bonded into place permanently, completing the dental implant procedure.
If you are missing one or more teeth, have a healthy mouth, are free from issues like periodontal disease, and have a strong jaw bone, you may be a good candidate for dental implants. To find out if this procedure is right for you, we recommend scheduling a consultation with Dr. Jeremy Brown at Boise Dental Arts.
